Clogged Pores? BBL™ Therapy Can Help

Clogged Pores? BBL™ Therapy Can Help

If you have whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples, you can blame clogged pores, the tiny little ducts in your skin.

Keeping your pores unblocked is easier said than done, but we make it fast and simple at Gago Wellness in Brighton, Michigan. We use BroadBand Light™ therapy (BBL) to obliterate the junk that clogs pores and leads to blemishes. Here’s how it works.

What is a pore?

You have two main types of pores: oil pores and sweat pores.

Sweat pores are so tiny, they’re practically invisible. They’re located all over your body, allowing you to sweat and regulate your temperature.

Oil pores are the tricky ones. These openings may be so small you can’t see them easily or so big they’re distracting. Oil pores are ducts or channels connected to your sebaceous glands, which produce sebum (oil). The number, size, and location of your oil pores are primarily an act of genetics. When oil pores get clogged, acne sets in.

Enlarged pores vs. clogged pores

You can have enlarged pores without having clogged pores, but the two often go hand in hand. Sun damage, age, certain skin care products, and hair follicles can increase the size of your oil pores and make them more vulnerable to clogging. But even tiny pores can become clogged.

What clogs pores?

Pores are designed to release oil and sweat, but often, the reverse happens. Instead of sending out waste, waste falls into the holes and fills them up.

The most common pore-cloggers are:

Teens are most susceptible to clogged pores because the hormone surge that comes with puberty dramatically increases the amount of oil their sebaceous glands produce. Excess oil overwhelms and clogs the pores.
